Alliance Française

The Alliance Française is an association founded in Paris in 1883 with the aim of spreading the French language abroad. As an independent association, the Cultural Institute, whose branches are closely interwoven with the cultural life of the respective host country, enjoys a high degree of autonomy.

In Mombasa AF is a language & cultural centre with a 40 years presence in Kenya’s second biggest city.

Most of the activities will take place on the grounds of the AF. There is a wonderful garden there, where stalls, a stage and discussion forums will find a beautiful setting.

L’Alliance française est une association fondée à Paris en 1883 dans le but de diffuser la langue française à l’étranger. En tant qu’association indépendante, l’Institut Culturel, dont les branches sont étroitement liées à la vie culturelle du pays d’accueil respectif, jouit d’une grande autonomie. à Mombasa, l’AF est un centre linguistique et culturel présent depuis 40 ans dans la deuxième plus grande ville du Kenya. La plupart des activités se dérouleront dans les locaux de l’AF. Il y a là un magnifique jardin, où des stands, une scène et des forums de discussion trouveront un cadre magnifique.

Die Alliance Française ist eine 1883 in Paris gegründete Vereinigung mit dem Ziel, die französische Sprache im Ausland zu verbreiten. Als unabhängiger Verein genießt das Kulturinstitut, dessen Zweigstellen eng mit dem kulturellen Leben des jeweiligen Gastlandes verwoben sind, ein hohes Maß an Autonomie.In Mombasa ist die AF ein Sprach- & Kulturzentrum, das seit 40 Jahren in Kenias zweitgrößter Stadt präsent ist. Die meisten der Aktivitäten finden auf dem Gelände des AF statt. Dort gibt es einen wunderschönen Garten, in dem Stände, eine Bühne und Diskussionsforen einen schönen Rahmen finden.

It is named after the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. More than 246,000 people take German courses every year. Goethe-Instituts existed at 157 locations in 98 countries, 22 of them in Africa.

Sa mission est de promouvoir la connaissance de la langue allemande à l’étranger, d’encourager la coopération culturelle internationale et de fournir une image complète et actualisée de l’Allemagne. Il porte le nom du poète allemand Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Plus de 246 000 personnes suivent des cours d’allemand chaque année. Les Instituts Goethe existent sur 157 sites dans 98 pays, dont 22 en Afrique.

CA is a geman based non-profit cultural website. On the page there is a wide range of cultural observation, exchange, discovery and discussion. It wants to make a contribution to depicting this diversity of Africa, if possible beyond the clichés, and to enter into an exchange: because it is not excluded that one does fall into the cliché trap. Texts are published from african and european authors. Partnerships with other platforms are included. The languages are german and english. Hekaya Arts Initiative is a Mombasa-based literary & cultural production platform, the convener of the annual Swahili Literary Festiva and a school program Soma Sana Initiative which promotes reading, writing, public speaking in coastal schools.
